The five years that follow the choice of a host for the Gay Games are a busy time for the FGG. The Federation monitors the implementation of the host’s plans, helps them adapt to changing circumstances, and provides technical and financial support, particularly in the early days.
Particular attention is given to marketing support, via the FGG’s resources and those of our member organizations around the world.
The Federation takes care that hosts respect our principles of non-discrimination and participation, inclusion and personal best, and that the Gay Games Red Book for Sport and the Gay Games Red Book for Culture and Ceremonies are respected, so as to ensure a safe and competitive experience for Gay Games participants.

Beginning with Gay Games 9, a new model has been implemented in relations with our host:
- the FGG provided a start-up loan at no cost to our host
- the FGG is responsible for the acquisition of a registration system in collaboration with our host
- rather than fixed license fee payments, the FGG shares the risk of the Games, receiving a portion of registration fees
- a joint steering committee bringing together representatives of the FGG and the host committee is responsible for the execution of the host’s planning and projects
