Gay Games III
“Celebration”
1990
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

On 4 August at B.C. Place Stadium, the third Gay Games became the first to take place outside of the United States. The event also became the first to see Masters world records broken (in swimming). Participants came from 27 countries — about 7,300 athletes competed in 27 sports, and there were about 1,500 cultural participants. At the height of the AIDS crisis, the Gay Games continued to serve as an inspiration and had doubled in size once again.
